The year is flying by, and we are looking forward to several important events in our last month of school. Our Spring Showcase for intermediate students is on April 29th. Our BOGO Book Fair is set up for April 29 - May 2. This is a great opportunity to stock up on summer books for students. Please see the important date sections for Field Day, Preschool Promotion, and 5th Grade Promotion ceremonies. We hope you
have a great weekend.

West Louisville Elementary parents will be electing one parent to serve on the WLES Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council in April.
What is the SBDM? The SBDM Council is composed of the principal, three teachers, and two parents. SBDM meets once a month and gives input in the areas of academic policies, curriculum, and discipline, just to name a few. The parent member is to bring his/her own unique points on advisory council issues as well as presenting ideas from other WLES parents and that of the community.
Who is eligible? The parent must have a student at WLES during the 2025-2026 school year. Parents of incoming Kindergarten students are eligible to run. Members are also eligible for re-election for consecutive terms. The position will be a two-year term, unless the parent elected only can serve for one year based on children within the school.
How do I apply? Please submit the following information to Mrs. Kidd via email at Jennifer .kidd@daviess.kyschools.us or you can bring the information to the front office of WLES by noon on Monday, April 21, 2025.
1. Name:
2. Why do you want to be on the WLES SBDM council?
When is the election? A Google Form will be sent out to parents on Tuesday, April 22 to complete online. Votes will be counted from April 22 – April 24 at 3:00. IF a parent wants to vote in person they may stop by WLES on April 24 from 7:00-3:00 to vote at the school. Only ONE vote per family - either the Google form or in person.
When will the results be known? The highest vote recipient will be notified by April 25 and the election results will also be sent in the next school newsletter.

This reward has been POSTPONED until Thursday, April 24.
We want to make sure the students that recieve this reward are able to make it to school safely.

We wanted to start with thanking our community for the support of each other, as many families are hurting due to the flooding. Thank you for the positive thoughts, actions, and deeds for our students and families. Also, we appreciate your efforts in trying to continue with learning through NTI. Hopefully we will be able to be back in session soon. Stay
safe, and we are looking forward to seeing our students back in the building as soon as possible.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the WLES community and staff for your support these past 14 years. As some of you know, I am retiring at the end of this school year and the new principal will be announced shortly. I have truly loved my time at WLES and I look forward to supporting the next principal at our great school. In addition, I wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to the WLES community for your assistance with the World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. Due to your support, it has been a great success. If you have not already done so, please have your money turned in next week. Enjoy your weekend.
