When we return from Spring Break, we will have our Community Easter Meal on Wednesday, April 15th! We hope to see you all there with us! It has been an amazing attendance blitz for the past two weeks. We came up just a little short in the district blitz this week even
though we had the 4th highest attendance, but we did have great attendance all week long. For our School-Level Challenge, we ended
with a tie between Mrs. Luckett and Ms. Lawrence's AM Preschool, so both classes will enjoy a pizza party soon! Our candy bar sales
have been absolutely amazing, but they end next week! Please make sure you get the $80/box returned by Thursday. Also just a
reminder that Spring Break starts on Friday of this week. When we return from Spring Break, we will be focusing on MAP testing and our
final push before KSA so let's finish the year strong!!

March Madness is in full swing, and our students are stepping up to the challenge!! Our Attendance Blitz has been so much fun this week as we have gone head to head across the school! On Monday we will determine our school champion between Mrs. Luckett's class and Ms. Lawrence's AM class! We are also giving away a bunch of fun prizes this afternoon to students who had perfect attendance this week! Thank you to all of our families for making school a priority for our students and helping provide the most consistent education possible! Next week there is a DCPS attendance challenge, and West Louisville will face off against Audubon Elementary on Tuesday for our first round of competition! Let's show them how our Tigers roar with perfect attendance!! We also have our second night of parent-teacher conferences on Monday night. If we didn't see you on Thursday night, we hope you stop by Monday so we can share all of the amazing progress with you that your child has made this school year! Save the Date!! April 21st will be our final musical performance of the year, and it will feature our kindergarten and first grade students! We hope to see you all there to enjoy their fabulous performance!

We’d like to thank Wedding Thompson Orthodontics for generously providing our student folders this year. Their continued support helps our school and allows us to direct resources toward other important needs for our students and staff. We are grateful for their investment in our school community!

What a great week here at WLES!! We have enjoyed some warm weather and learned to play fiddles, and the students have continued working hard in class each day! Next week the weather is going to take us on another roller coaster ride, so please make sure that the students are dressed appropriately for whatever weather each day brings! Next week is also our March Madness High Attendance Challenge!! Classes will go head to head each day with the attendance percentages to see which class will be crowned the Attendance Champions! The top two classes will earn 30 minutes of free time with Mr. Stone on Friday, and the top attendance class in the school will also win a pizza party! We will also be drawing names for some prizes at the end of the week for any students that have perfect attendance all week!!

Spring has sprung, the birds are singing, and the flowers are beginning to bloom! This is one of my favorite times of the year. We get to be reminded of all of the amazing creations around us that have been hiding throughout the winter. Thank you all for an amazing kickoff to our World's Finest Chocolate sales! The boxes are selling fast, so keep up the great work! Next week kicks off our online registration for next year as well as enrollment for preschool and kindergarten! We are excited to meet all of our new Tiger Family members. If you know anyone with incoming preschool or kindergarten students, please encourage them to stop by the school and get those registrations completed! I
want to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Thompson for planning a fun and exciting week of reading fun for Read Across America Week! Seeing the excitement from the students on the dress-up days and in the Reading Log challenge has been a lot of fun this week! Don't forget to spring forward with your clocks on Sunday!

Kindness Month has been so amazing to celebrate! We hope that each student has learned something new in the past month about how kindness can make a difference in the world! Let's keep that kindness train rolling throughout March too! This week kicks off our World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser! The money earned will go directly back to the students in the form of rewards, trips, and celebrations! Our PTO does an amazing job supporting the students all year long by covering supplies for the classrooms, food for students at competitions, supplies for student celebrations, and much, much more! Let's do our best to help the PTO finish this school year strong and have the funding to start next year amazingly! The Owensboro Convention Center is hosting the S3DA Indoor National Championships this weekend! If you have some free time, go by and support some of our WLES Tigers and alumni as they compete!

We got a late start to our February, but this week has been amazing! The students came back ready to learn like leaders and have really jumped right back into the swing of things. We ended the week with a delicious "Because I Love You" breakfast along with over 120 guests and Valentine's parties in our classrooms!! Thank you to everyone that supported our FRYSC by purchasing from the Valentine Store. It was a huge success! Congratulations to our WLES Tigers Academic Team on placing 1st in Future Problem Solving, 1st in Quick Recall, and District Overall Runner-Up along with many other awards for individuals! We are so proud of their success and can't wait to see them succeed at Regionals! I also want to thank Mrs. Washington and Ms. Thompson for coaching this year, and I want to thank all of the other parents and staff that volunteered to help last Saturday. Our Tiger Family shined brightly all day long!

10 Days!! Who would have ever thought we would be out for 10 days! You have all done an amazing job at making sure our students were engaged and getting the work done each day! We really hope to see everyone back in the building on Monday!
Our Academic Team will compete in the District Tournament Saturday right here at West Louisville! So if you want to cheer them on, come on out! The Quick Recall competition starts at 10am! Thank you so much to Mrs. Washington and Ms. Thompson for everything they have done to prepare our students for tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

What a crazy week of weather we have had, but we made the best of it! I want to thank all of our families, students and extended families for making our DCPS@Home days all so successful this past week! I also want to remind you that the DCPS@Home packets need to be sent back in once they are completed. They are typically due 5 days after the @Home day, but we may have to be flexible with that guideline for next week depending on road conditions. We have so many exciting events planned for the month of February, so let's hope that this snow moves out quickly and we can get back to business with our Tiger Family soon!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow! I don't know how deep it will be, but I feel pretty confident that snow will arrive over the
weekend! We will be sending home DCPS@Home folders and Chromebooks in preparation for next week, but as always, please
watch for notifications each day about what our plans are for school. If you need assistance with the DCPS@Home days, food,
or other resources through this Winter Storm event, please reach out to the school and we will do our very best to assist you
as much as possible.

Winter weather has arrived and the morning temperatures are cold. Please make sure your child always comes to school with a
coat, gloves and hat! Also, check often to make sure they return home with those items so that we can return lost items from
the lost and found in a timely manner. Our school has also been hit hard this week with sickness. Make sure you are reminding
your child to wash their hands often, use hand sanitizer, and always cover their sneezes and coughs. We hope that the 3 Day
weekend will allow our families some time to rest and recover, and return next week healthy and ready for a great semester!

Happy New Year and welcome back to school! It has been great to see all of the students back in the building this week excited about learning and ready to see their friends. Next week we will begin our Winter MAP testing to get a better pulse on where our students are in the middle of the year. We will use this data to create new WIN Time groups, which will allow us to focus on the biggest concerns for each student. Please make sure your students get a great night's sleep each night and make sure they eat a good breakfast either at home or at school. We have several exciting family events ahead, so keep a close eye out for flyers and announcements! Thank you all for the support from home each day to make our Tiger Family a success!

It is hard to believe that the first semester is already ending! I want to take a moment to personally thank the entire Tiger Family and community for welcoming me as the new leader and making the first semester a truly amazing experience! Next semester we will be busy learning and growing together as we finish the year strong! I hope you enjoy your family time together over the next two weeks. The WLES blue cheer team had the incredible opportunity to join AHS for a joint practice and a halftime performance! We are so proud of their hard work and commitment this season! Also, thank you AHS Eagle cheer team for your kindness and leadership! A great time was had by all! Our WL cheer team will be competing in their state competition this Saturday, December 20th at 6:00pm Bowling Green High School (1801 Rockingham Lane Bowling Green, KY 42104) Cost is $10 at the gate. Kids 10 and under are free. Cash or credit cards accepted. Go Tigers!!

Can you believe we are already on our last week before Christmas Break? It seems like just a few weeks ago I was introducing myself as the new principal!! I have absolutely LOVED becoming a part of the Tiger Family and the West Louisville Community! As you head into Christmas Time, I hope your family finds time to slow down, reflect on the great
things you have been given in life, and truly enjoy the time with your families! I am very blessed to get to serve as the leader of this school and I am looking forward to an amazing second semester!!

We are decking the halls and heading into the holidays full steam ahead! We had a great turnout for Family Craft Night, and we appreciate everyone coming out to join us! As we head into this week, we will continue the 12 Days of Holiday dress-up! On Thursday night we will celebrate the holidays with an amazing musical performance by our 2nd and 3rd grade students. Come out and celebrate the holidays with us on Dec. 11th at 6pm! Thank you for your great participation in the first DCPS @ Home day of the year! I hope we don’t have many more of those coming! Let’s have a great week spreading some Christmas cheer, Tigers!

Our Food Drive continues through Dec. 17. Send in those donations ASAP. We have some classes working really hard to win Pizza with the Principal!
