Parents and Guardians,
It’s been another great week in the Foxes Den. Our Friday Shout-Out list was long today, as our students continue to make us laugh and smile as we all learn what it means to be Kind, Responsible, and Respectful. Last Friday we had a great time at the Color Bash! You can see the progress on the football field as more dirt is being brought to build up our new field. This next week we host our first “home” football game against Owensboro Catholic Middle School at Apollo High School at 5:00 pm.
We are still missing many of our Free and Reduced Lunch Applications. While the name says “Lunch” this document is important for providing funding for our Family Resource Center. Burns Middle School receives funding for our Family Resource Center and Title I program based on the number of students that qualify for Free or Reduced meals. These funds are used to support every BMS student. We need your help to ensure those funds are in place for this year and next year. You may be interested to know that a family of four making $57,720 qualifies for Reduced meal status. A family of four making $40,560 qualifies for Free meal status. We encourage you to apply online. http://dcps.org/enroll/ Free & Reduced App. If you have any questions, we are here to help, please call Carolina Campos, Family Resource Center Coordinator at 270-852-7411.
Mark your calendars! We have some important upcoming dates and events you need to know about!
September the 20th is a professional learning day for teachers, but there will be no school for students.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on September 26th from 4pm-6pm. The cafeteria will be providing their famous Crispitos for dinner!
October 1st will be our Pink Out Football Game at Apollo High School. We will tailgate here at BMS and provide transportation to Apollo for the first 80 students who sign up when tickets go on sale on September 25th.
Have a great weekend! Go Foxes!
