Burns Middle School Parents and Guardians,
We have had a great return to the Foxes’ Den this week. We hope everyone had a relaxing holiday break. We are excited about what this new semester has to offer our students and families. Our basketball team had a great winter break. Our seventh-grade boys' team placed first in the Tiger Classic tournament, and our eighth-grade boys' team placed second. This Sunday, students who have signed up will be able to raise money for pediatric cancer patients through the Dance Blue fundraiser.
We’ve also had some improvements in the building. The next time you are at a basketball game, look at our newly painted bleachers and surrounding area. A big thank you to our maintenance department for making this look clean and neat!
As we start this new semester and new year, we are emphasizing the importance of our students being prepared for class each day, as we all know this is an important life skill. Students need to bring their laptops and chargers to school every day so that they have an opportunity to equally participate in class.
A reminder about the car rider line. In the morning, everyone must exit at Goetz Drive. Driving in front of the school in the morning is only permitted for teachers and parents who are parking and walking into the school. Driving through that area creates a safety hazard for teachers and guests who are walking across these lanes into the school. Please remember that in the afternoon school is finished at 3:15 pm and students need to be picked up at that time. There is no additional staff to supervise students after 3:45 pm. ESS after-school tutoring and assistance will resume January 16 from 7:30 am- 8:00 am and from 3:30 pm- 5:00 pm.
Also this week we will be holding elections for our open parent SBDM role. Stop by the office and vote!
Wintry weather is around the corner, so be sure to make note of the inclement weather schedule. This will be posted on our website as well
