Greetings Parents and Guardians,
It was a busy week in the Foxes Den! Basketball season has begun for both our girls’ and our boys’ teams. Our cheer and dance teams are in competition season. And we celebrated Veterans Day with our ceremony on Friday!
I want to thank everyone who made this ceremony possible! Our committee of teachers, FRYSC (Family Resource Youth Service Coordinator), students, front office personnel, and the performing arts team prepared for an excellent ceremony. Our orchestra director, Rachael Gasser; our choir director, Mary Lynch; and our band director (and creator of the visual presentation), April Yonts; provided all the music to make this ceremony possible. A special thank you to Veteran Scott Taylor, a member of our DCPS student services team, who spoke to our students and veterans about service to our community. He also provided an interactive experience for the audience that gave everyone a peak into the day in the life of an armed service member. Our students were engaged and attentive! We are also grateful to the Apollo JROTC who honored us with the presentation of colors.
Thanksgiving season is upon us and our food drive kicks off this week, November 13th-17th. Non-perishable food items and hygiene products are all welcome!
On Friday, December 1, we will be hosting our Christmas Dance from 7-9, tickets will go on sale November 16th in the morning before school.
We are halfway through the second quarter! As holiday breaks and events increase, encourage your students to stay on top of their assignments. Attendance matters! If your child misses school, be sure they take advantage of before or after-school ESS (Extended School Services) to get caught up.
Have a great weekend. And go Foxes!
