Parents and Guardians,
Happy Friday! It’s been an eventful week in the Foxes Den. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in the Fall Family Fright Night. It looks like a great night was had by all! A big thanks to the teachers, staff, parents, students, and community members who all made this happen!
This week we also celebrated Red Ribbon Week. Each day we had activities and dress-up days that focused on educating our students about the dangers of drug and alcohol use. Each grade level held an assembly where our own Student Resource Officer (SRO), Tim Gray, cautioned students about the choices we make as middle school students and the impact it has on us as to whether or not we grow into healthy, contributing members of our community. We are very fortunate in DCPS to have our own SRO at Burns Middle School to help students build healthy relationships and to ensure the safety of our students each day.
Our Veterans Day program is quickly approaching. We will have this program on November 10 at 2:00 p.m. If your student has a veteran who they would like to invite to our program, please have them pick up an invitation in the front office so we know how many will be attending.
The Lost and Found is overflowing!! If your student is missing a sweatshirt, hoodie, sweatpants, t-shirt, shoes, or water bottle, we have many. Have them stop by the clothes hanging near the front office to claim their items. We do not have a place to keep all of these, so this will be cleaned out on Friday, November 3rd.
Next week is Halloween. We do allow costumes, but the costume cannot be a distraction from the learning day. The costume cannot take up more space than a traditional classroom chair. Students cannot wear face masks or paint their faces either.
Have a great weekend enjoying these beautiful fall days!
