Happy Friday and Fall Break. We’ve had an excellent first quarter of the school year. I couldn’t be more proud of our students and thier growth already. Just this past week we had our first chorus and band concert, and we were thrilled to welcome a full gym of guests to witness the progress being made. As I said in our last newsletter, as we return from fall break you will be receiving your child’s data–a report card, a MAP score, and a state KSA score with a letter explaining what these achievement numbers mean for your student. We know that progress doesn’t just happen at school; it takes the whole village to help our students succeed.
Upon our return from Fall Break, we will have a change in the food policy and procedures at BMS. In an effort to avoid any potential health-related issues, and in order to be compliant with DCPS district food policy, on October 16th, snack food will no longer be allowed in the classrooms. This is to keep all our students safe from exposure to life-threatening allergens. As this is a safety concern, failure to follow the guidelines will result in the loss of a FOX Card. We know that this can be a difficult change for students who have a later lunch period, so encourage your students to eat breakfast before arriving at school or eat the school-provided breakfast in the morning. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at BMS. Thank you for your continued support!
When we return to school we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-27 where we will focus on the importance of staying drug and alcohol-free. Also that week, on Thursday the 26th, we will celebrate our annual Fright Night with games, food, and a haunted house.
We hope you have a fantastic break and can’t wait to see you back in the Den on Monday, October, 16th! Go Foxes!
