Happy Friday!  We have had a fantastic week in the Foxes Den!  We have loved having students back in our classrooms and halls and learning about being Kind, Responsible, and Respectful.  I have seen so many students connect with new students and make them feel welcome.

Each day we’ve had a quick assembly with a different grade, celebrating our new school year and making sure our students know how to have a successful school year.

For those of you who don’t know me, before being named principal this year, I was the assistant principal at BMS for four years, I worked as the Literacy Instructional Coach for DCPS, as the Instructional Coach at Apollo High School, and also as an English teacher at AHS. I sent my two high school daughters to BMS.  It has been the greatest honor to be a part of the Foxes’ Den these four years. I truly believe this place is magical and I am so excited about what this year has in store for our Foxes.

Our teams are off to a great start as well; last night our football team beat Ohio County 21-0, while we also enjoyed great performances from our cheer and dance team.  Our volleyball team kicks off its season in full force with three games next week, and our cross-country team is gearing up for competition soon!

Our Fox Bowl will be held next Saturday at 9:00 am at BMS.  And the following Friday we will host our first dance–the Color Bash on August 25, from 3:30 pm-5:00 pm.

One note on student, staff, and family safety:  DO NOT TURN RIGHT INTO THE BUS LANES when exiting the car rider line.  Please proceed straight after the first stop sign and exit after the stop sign at Goetz Drive.  The bus lane is for busses, walkers, and teachers exiting or entering their cars. When cars turn to exit into this lane, it is a safety hazard.

ESS (Extended School Services) for help with homework begins August 21.  It is available each day from 3:30-5:00 pm.  Transportation is not available at this time.

Each day our staff is working towards the Best Year at Burns,

Kendra Bronsink

Principal
