FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Owensboro, KY-Last week, Chelsea Hoffman, a school counselor at College View Middle School was honored during the Kentucky School Counselors of the Year Award Luncheon during the organization's annual conference in Lexington, KY. Hoffman was named the KSCA Middle School Counselor of the Year.
“I am completely honored to accept this award,” Hoffman stated. “I am just so excited to represent College View Middle School and our district. Our district has an amazing group of counselors who work as a team, our leaders are leading us in a direction of what counseling truly is.”
Chelsea began working for Daviess County Public Schools in 2010 as a Special Education teacher and moved to her role as a school counselor in 2022. Hoffman’s role as school counselor is to help students excel in their academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
Hoffman was nominated for the award by Sara Duke, DCPS School Supports Coordinator. The nomination required specific examples of leadership, student support, professionalism, and community involvement.
“In addition to her work with students, Chelsea is known for her thoughtfulness toward faculty, often leaving small gifts and thank you notes to show appreciation,” said Duke. “If you were to ask her, she would humbly say that she is not the amazing one—that it's the collective efforts of everyone working together for the benefit of the students that makes her role at CVMS so special. We are fortunate to have Chelsea on the school counseling team at DCPS.”
Dr. Caleb York, Assistant Superintendent of Human Services, expressed his admiration, stating, “Our school counselors play a vital role in serving and supporting our students. I am thrilled to see Mrs. Hoffman recognized for her unwavering commitment to the success and well-being of every student at College View Middle School.”
